چکیده

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the intraand inter-reliability for measuring infants with plagiocephaly and brachycephaly with a craniometer when using a marked headband as landmarks. Subjects: Six physiotherapists and eight infants participated in the study. Methods: The physiotherapists measured all infants twice; each infant was measured with the same headband and craniometer. The physiotherapists were blinded to measurements carried out by their colleagues. The infants with their parents changed places in the room to minimize the possibility that the physiotherapists would remember their first measurements of any infant. Results: There was a high intraand inter-reliability, for intra-reliability ICC 0.96 to 0.99 and for inter-reliability ICC 0.98. Conclusion: It is possible to achieve a high intraand inter-reliability when using a headband and craniometer when measuring cranial vault asymmetry for plagiocephaly and cephalic ratio for brachycephaly.

Automatic 3D Shape Severity Quantification and Localization for Deformational Plagiocephaly.

Recent studies have shown an increase in the occurrence of deformational plagiocephaly and brachycephaly in children. This increase has coincided with the "Back to Sleep" campaign that was introduced to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). However, there has yet to be an objective quantification of the degree of severity for these two conditions. Most diagnoses are done on su...

Shape Descriptors and Automatic Severity Quantification for Deformational Brachycephaly

Deformational brachycephaly is a non-synostotic (or positional) flattening of the head that has largely been regarded as a cosmetic disease by clinicians. It is closely related to deformational plagiocephaly, both of which, being positional diseases, have increased in frequency considerably since the introduction of the “Back to Sleep” campaign, a largely successful attempt to prevent Sudden In...

Helmet Therapy for Positional Cranial Deformities in Children

Positional cranial deformities are a group of disorders that result in asymmetrical cranial vault due to the application of prolonged exterior pressure on the skull. These can be classified as deformational plagiocephaly, deformational brachycephaly and deformational scaphocephaly, in order of frequency. Clinical awareness of the condition has increased due to its increased incidence resulting ...

Developing an Assessment Tool for Nursing Students` General Clinical Performance

Introduction: The necessity of valid and reliable assessment tools is one of the most emphasized issues in literature related to nursing students` clinical assessment. But it is believed that the present tools are mostly not valid and reliable, and can not measure students` performances properly. The aim of this study was to design a valid and reliable assessment tool for evaluation of nursing ...
